Dr. Destruction

This is Dr. Destruction my Doom wannabe (Not really, read on)
Real Name: Michael Redford
Eruption: Accident
Nature: Critic
Allegiance: Project Proteus

Background: Michael Redford erupted amidst the chaos of March 23 1998. He saw first hand the destruction uncontrolled Quantum powers could cause when he disintegrated half his laboratory after another failed experiment in the application of chaos theory to quantum observation. He wanted to prove that a subatomic particle could be observed in both states as a particle and a wave instead he converted a third of a milligram of plutonium into explosive energy. An incredibly intelligent man to begin with, Michael became involved with the Aeon society from the outset. His Prodigal scientific knowledge coupled with his ability to observe firsthand the Quantum forces contributed much of the current knowledge on Quantum powers and Quantum manipulation of natural forces possessed today. Dr. Redford is also one of the first scientists to study Taint and its effects. Not surprisingly he has a readily available test subject, himself. Being the first to recognize the dangers of Taint he is among the founding members of Project Proteus and one of the driving forces behind the Nova sterilization program. As he sees it Novas are too dangerous as it is. Allowing them to breed uncontrollably would do more harm to the human species than an all out nuclear war.

He makes an impressive figure in his dark tan and black containment suit that he uses to isolate the harmfull radiation he emits. Even so whenever he uses his power flashes of light appear that are so minute and intense that all one can see are the afterimage dark spots surrounding him. Underneath his mask his handsome face is obscured by his red glowing eyes. Dr. Destruction took the name and persona so to speak in early 2000. One of Aeon's pride and joy Novas was suffering from a rash of bad press. Hiram 'Slag' Goldberg just didn't know when to keep his mouth shut. Nova's were still new enough that any bad press hurt them all. So when the heads of Aeon came up blank as to how to turn around his failing popularity the directors of Proteus turned to their resident Brain Trust for a solution. The answer of course was that Slag had to save a lot of people and win big against somebody tough. Dr. Redford commissioned a comic book artist to design his new containment suit while he used his own Mega Intellect to put the design into existence. The Aeon publicity people working for Proteus managed to arrange for Slag to be at the unveiling of Viasofts new Supercomputer maxi server. A one of a kind optical processor with crystals aligned by a Gravity controlling Nova in a self sustaining zero g field. Dr. Destruction burst on the scene intent on stealing the computer for his own research. While the fight itself wasn't the smoothest display of Nova combat, especially considering that Slag had no idea that the whole thing was staged, it did achieve its purpose. Dr. Destruction managed to lose convincingly enough and Slag became one of the most loved heroes of his time.

Roleplaying notes: Dr. Destruction tried to make his debut as a Supervillian as plausible as possible so he put some effort into creating the Dr. Destruction persona to sell to the crowd. As a result he has a dedicated online following of fans and adherents. So while his theories and papers aren't published by the scientific 'community' they are shared and discussed by a small 'hacker' community. In public Dr. Destruction comes off as a classic four color Supervillian. He uses his Eidetic memory to recite lines from old comic books and plays the role of the Megalomaniac to the hilt. He is not a Megalomaniac however but is prone to bouts of paranoia. It is only because of his enhanced intellect that he recognizes this and knows how to combat it. In effect he acts as his own psychiatrist. But the ease with which these paranoid thoughts well up within him and the conclusions he draws about this from other Novas he's observed has made him very truly afraid. Afraid for the world when giants walk the Earth, each ready to explode into violence that he so narrowly avoids himself.

New Entropy Control Technique

Drain
 Dice Pool: Intelligence+Entropy Control
Range: (Quantum + Power rating) x 10 meters
 Area: (Quantum +Power rating) x 5 meters
 Duration: Instant
Effect: Drain reduces all energy attacks and energy sources by one level of rating/effect per success. A damaging attack would be reduced by one Health level of damage per success. A battery or fire would be reduced by one level per success. Drain can be performed as a defensive maneuver if the Nova has actions left.
