Pestilence

Real Name: Walter Parkers

    Background:  Walter worked for the US government in various capacities over the years. He's been employed by the CIA and the NSA and on a few ocasions by the Secret Service. His career as a professional hitman started in the US Army. He recieved training as a Sniper and was used in various Central and South American countries for a few years. After he left the Army the CIA contracted him for a few hits in the middle east. He did some official work with Secret Service on Presidential security but was co-opted by the NSA for special assignments. So far he had no special distinction to his name except for the fact that after 20 years in the business he was still alive. As part of his official identity he held the position of security liason to the UN. It was in that capacity that he came to work for Project Proteus. His track record and discretion made him a perfect candidate for Proteus. He did a few jobs for them before he managed to track down the source of his new orders as coming from inside Project Utopia. After a few months of observing the men who dispatched his orders and who they came in to contact with he managed to deduce the existence of Proteus and even managed to map some of its basic heirarchy. Walters assumed that Ozaki was the head of this secret organization but he was still unsure what it's long term goals were and what if anything he should do about it. Ozaki for his part realized that Walters had him under indirect observation and from there was able to piece together what he knew of Proteus. Ozaki was very impressed, but more importantly so was Thetis. She had Walters brought in. He immediatly was put to work undercover infiltrating the Michaelites. His job was not only to keep an eye on their activities but to single out their leadership if it became necessary to eliminate them. To get in good with the Michaelites he killed a Nova in Texas, first injecting him with Moxinoquantamine with a tranquilizer dart at a distance, then shooting him repeatedly with a shotgun at a range of three feet. His reputation within the organization was growing fast as an Assassin named St. Germain.
    Walters was a latent with very few cells predisposed towards expression and under normal circumstances never would have erupted. However his cicumstances were anything but normal. During a protest rally in Chicago a few Teragen members decided to stir up trouble against the Anti Nova activists. Walters took out two of the Teragen members but in turn was attacked by another Nova under orders to watch him in case he was turning over to the Michaelites for real. Victory Angel noticed and went to see what was happening. Walters was shot four times in the back and four times in the chest. Victory Angel attacked the other Nova but missed. Walters was pushed out the window as he activated the exlposives he had set up throughout the building in case something like this happened. Awash with Quantum energies from two battling Novas and falling to his death Walter's eruption began. However it didn't finish until three days later when he stepped out of the morgue. His Node was almost nonexistant at first and he had trouble channeling even small amounts of Quantum. His Node has grown from almost nothing to a third instar Node over the last year however. But he still has many problems stemming from the massive amounts of Taint he incurred before he could get a handle on his powers. Walters has buried all evidence that ties him to his past life and as a Nova has taken the name Pestilence. He believes that someone in Proteus betrayed him but until he finds out who he won't reveal himself to his former employers.

Roleplaying Notes:  Very meticulous. Pestilence doesn't do anything without at least two back-up plans and he's always revising his actions and their possible consequences. Before comitting himself to a course of action he always considers the outcome and how he can maximize his chances for success. He'll work with a partner but won't hesitate to stab that person in the back. Factoring his powers into battle are something he's still not quite used to and after two failed attempts at killing another Nova with his Quantum abilities alone he is now convinced he should mix conventional means with his Nova powers to get the job done. He will use Advanced Body armor, and all manner of anti-tank and anti-air weaponry, to face Nova opponents. By the year 2010 Pestlience will be a Quantum 6 Nova with a fourth instar Node. By this time nothing will be able to stop the madness and he will be consumed by a burning hatred for all life. Allowed to grow unchecked Pestilence could one day threaten the life of every living being in the Universe.
