Straight Cop
    "Being a cop isn't what it used to be.  There's no respect anymore.  Not from the people we're supposed to protect.  Not even from the men and women who wear the badge.  Not that I blame them.  Having the Corps pull your strings makes you feel like a mall cop.  I finally got tired of not being able to look myself in the mirror and I left.
    "So tell me... Why should I consider taking this job?  I agree, that's a lot of money.  But you still haven't told me why I should put my neck on the line for you..."
Commentary:  The straight cop took to the shadows to see justice done and now there's no turning back.  Her experience on the force gives her an advantage.  But it also carries a stigma attached to it.  And that's something she's going to have to overcome if she's going to win respect on the streets.  But more importantly she needs to get back her own self respect.  If she can't do that then all the rest of it was meaningless.
